MEDIA ADVISORY: NJ HOBY TO HOST ANNUAL LEADERSHIP SEMINAR AT MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY NEXT WEEKEND
West Long Branch, NJ – June 3, 2016 – Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Foundation of New Jersey (NJ HOBY) will host its annual Leadership Seminar at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, June 10-12, 2016. NJ HOBY will bring together nearly 300 of the top-performing high school sophomores from all across New Jersey to unlock their leadership potential. These sophomores will leave the weekend as social good leaders who, with the tools they have learned at HOBY, will set off to become change makers in their communities.
These “HOBY Ambassadors” will participate in a three day conference to help them hone their personal, team, and community leadership skills. The students will be challenged through engaging activities, participate in a community service project, and design their own projects at the seminar to bring to their communities after the seminar. The students will also learn these leadership techniques directly from a variety of leaders from across the Garden State.
“At NJ HOBY, our goal is simple: we teach our ambassadors how to think, not what to think,” said Shelley Bertino and Siiri Makela, co-Leadership Seminar Chairs for 2016. “NJ HOBY identifies the best and brightest from every community across the state, from Bergen County to Cape May County, and we bring them together to arm them with the necessary tools to make a positive difference in their communities. We are excited about another great leadership seminar on the horizon – 2016 is primed to be our biggest year yet at NJ HOBY.”
